OFFER DESCRIPTION

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Juraj Fedor at J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague, Czech Republic. The postdoc will work on a project related to probing and transforming matter by electrons in liquid jets. His/her main responsibility will be in setting up an experiment where the reactivity of free electrons with liquids will be probed in vacuo. For this purpose, the postdoc will combine an existing electron collision infrastructure available in the group with the liquid microjet technique. A collaboration with large infrastructures (synchrotrons) where complementary experiments on the photoelectron spectroscopy will be performed, is also envisaged.

The postdoc should hold a doctoral degree (or be close to obtaining one) in physics or chemistry. Experience in designing and setting up scientific instrumentation is desirable. This concerns mainly high vacuum technology, laboratory optics and charged particle detection technology. The experience in operating liquid microjets and experience with optical spectroscopy techniques are strong assets. Programming experience for data analysis is an advantage. Good communication skills in English are important, as we are an international team with many collaborations.
