Laboratory technician / PhD student in experimental planetary chemistry

A leading research institute in Prague, Czechia, named after Nobel laureate in Chemistry, J. Heyrovský, is seeking a laboratory technician or PhD student for experimental research in planetary chemistry and cosmochemistry at the Department of Spectroscopy.

 

Type of contract: Temporary (3 - 4 years, possible continuation of the carreer)

Job status: Full-time or Part-time

Starting date: By agreement

 

The successful candidate will participate in laboratory research focused on experimental planetary science, plasma chemistry, and cosmochemistry. The work includes operation of experimental systems, preparation of laboratory experiments, and analytical measurements related to planetary environments and astrochemical processes.

 

Main responsibilities 

Participation in laboratory experiments in planetary chemistry and cosmochemistry

Operation and maintenance of experimental laboratory equipment

Instrumental analysis and sample preparation

Support of experimental campaigns and data collection

Participation in interdisciplinary research projects

 

Required qualifications

MSc degree or PhD degree in Chemistry or a related field

Experience with instrumental analytical techniques

Practical experience with standard laboratory operations in a chemical laboratory

Good organizational and technical skills

Ability to work independently and responsibly

Good command of English

 

Preferred qualifications 

Experience with spectroscopy or plasma chemistry

Interest in planetary science, astrochemistry, or cosmochemistry

Experience with vacuum systems, gas handling, or analytical instrumentation
