Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Type of contract: Temporary
Job status: Full-time
Starting date: 1.10.2025 or by agreement
Job description
A two-year experimental postdoctoral research position is open on a joint project between J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague, CZ, and the University of Innsbruck, Austria, focused on the molecular dynamics of azole-based anions. Azole rings resulting from click chemistry are now a common motif in many technical molecules and drugs, consequently becoming dangerous pollutants. The planned studies aim to understand their action in biological systems and possible ways of removing them from the environment. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to conduct experiments on existing experimental setups with molecular beams, clusters, low-energy electrons, mass spectrometry, or velocity map imaging. Some details can be found in our recent works on the topic (https://doi.org/10.1021/jacs.4c18; https://doi.org/10.1002/cplu.202500120). The primary workplace will be Prague, with extensive travelling to Innsbruck as well as other collaborating groups, training schools, and conferences in the field. The starting date can be negotiated.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience with any of the used experimental or data analysis techniques, such as molecular beams, electron monochromators, vacuum technology, mass spectrometry, AD/DA converters, fast electronics, Python, ROOT. Self-motivation, and willingness to learn. Good knowledge of English.
Benefits
- 5 weeks paid leave of absence (holidays) per year + 3 days of paid sick-leave in addition to the statutory insurance
