Postdoctoral position in nanoscience

Postdoctoral position in nanoscience

A 15 month postdoctoral position is available at J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, one of the leading research institutes in the field of physical chemistry, located in Prague, Czech Republic.

Project description

The project will focus on coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). MOFs represent a new class of compounds that consist of metal nodes and organic ligands to form various 1D, 2D and 3D nanostructures exhibiting advanced optical, electronic and magnetic properties. A special focus will be put on electrically conductive MOFs in which quantum confinement effects are expected. Due to their ultrahigh porosity MOFs can be effectively functionalized by molecular doping and electrochemical doping. Optimally functionalized MOFs will further be implemented in electronic devices such as solar cells, batteries, sensors and smart windows.

The successful candidate will carry out experimental research on coordination polymers and MOFs: synthesis, functionalization, characterization, electronic, optical and magnetic properties, optoelectronic and spintronic applications, as a member of an interdisciplinary research team based at J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague and the University of Vienna.
