Abstract: The objective of the project is verification of quite a new way of detection of unknown samples of explosives (except others also prospectively misusable for terrorist attacks) based on IR spectra of volatile components of explosives and the spectra of burning products of trace amount of explosives. The methods used for this basic resesearch will involve absorption spectroscopy with Fouriers transformation and diode lasers with photoacoustic detection of trace amounts of compouds. Chemical composition of volatile compouds of explosives and the products of burning of explosives will be parallel analysed by means of other methods including mass spectroscopy with selected ions SIFT-MS. The result will be formulation of spectroscopic detection methods for vapour of explosives and burning product of explosives, leading to design of detector prototype.
