Abstract:
The major goal of the proposed project is generation of free nanoparticles of a given size and composition, and both experimental and theoretical studies of these nanoparticles at molecular level. The basic idea is to use the nanoparticles as nanoreactors for studies of physical and chemical processes. The focus should be on nanoparticles and processes of atmospheric relevance, e.g. hydrogen halide and other molecules photolysis and hydrolysis in water nanoparticles, which contribute to stratospheric ozone depletion. Study of nanoparticle-surface interaction has an additional aim to provide data for generation of surface nanostructures by nanoparticle deposition.
