Abstract:
We aim to design new luminescent molybdenum cluster complexes based on the Mo6I8 core associated with carboxylated functional ligands. The synthetic scheme will enable a fine tuning of the properties of the cluster complexes (absorption in the red region, high quantum yields of luminescence and singlet oxygen formation, synergistic effects with the ligands, electron transfer properties, and stability). The synthesized complexes will be incorporated in composite materials. The host materials of the composites will behave as inert carriers, rigorously imposing protection from outside ffects and allowing utilization in aqueous media (e.g., SiO2 nanoparticles, polymeric nanofibers) or will serve as active components (e.g., semiconducting oxides). Analysis of the properties of these new cluster complexes as well as their composites will allow to evaluate their potential as luminescent probes, chromophores in LED, or sensitizers.
Goals:
The design of new hexanuclear molybdenum cluster complexes based on the Mo6I8 core and their composites, both with desirable photophysical and photochemical properties. The evaluation of their potential as luminescent probes, chromophores in LED, or sensitizers.
